Accused Stalker Questioned: 'However Imagine I Might Be Madeleine?'
A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly left her a phone message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.
On Monday, the tribunal was told call records and information recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most publicized investigations and is still open.
'I Do Not Need Money'
Another phone message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I know what I believe."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Is that not important for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to understand," the message continued.
The tribunal was advised that through emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.
The investigator, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who compiled the information, informed the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also contacted close associates of the McCanns, as per the call data.
On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail stating "I won't give up and I will prove my point."
The court heard Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' property in the county in last December.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had contacted using messaging service to Mrs McCann to express the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the time preceding the appearance to Rothley, that area, in December 2024.
The court was told communications between the two defendants, in last November, planning endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from utensils at a dining venue.
"We have to take action," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the trip to their home, the defendant sent a message which stated: "We are sat outside the McCanns' residence with our lights out like detectives. I wanted to accomplish this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
